In a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mintel.com\/plant-based-trends\">recent study<\/a> conducted by market research firm Mintel, it was found that in North America alone, there has been an increase of over 100% in people choosing to consume more plant-based foods.<\/p>\n<p>As of November 20th, the term \u201cplant-based\u2019 was found on 16,490 menus in North America. An increasing number of restaurants are catering to the growing number of vegans, vegetarians and \u201cflexitarians.\u201d A report release in August by<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/company\/press\/plant-based-foods-market-to-hit-162-billion-in-next-decade-projects-bloomberg-intelligence\/\">\u00a0Bloomberg Intelligence<\/a>\u00a0suggests that global retails sales of plant-based meat and dairy alternatives may reach $126 billion by 2030, up from $29.4 billion in 2020.<\/p>\n<p>The growth in \u201cplant based\u201d appearing on menus in the U.S. and Canada is not only driven by small vegetarian or vegan restaurants, chain restaurants are on board the plant train.<\/p>\n<p>A&amp;W Canada, Carl\u2019s Junior, Del Taco, Mod Pizza and KFC are the top chains offering \u201cplant based\u201d on menus. Within chain restaurants, the recent lift has been largely driven by plant based meats Beyond Meat and Impossible Foods.<\/p>\n<p>Of the 16,490 restaurants that had \u201cplant based\u201d on menus, 10,452 were on chain location menus (five or more establishments) with independent locations making up 6,038.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"font-variant-ligatures: normal; font-variant-caps: normal; font-size: 15px; font-family: Roboto, sans-serif;\">????
